Ricardo Chiesa is a gifted sixteen years old flutist that has been described as a virtuoso by the press and public in Puerto Rico. He was born in october 30 1993 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His repertoire fluctuates betweeen jazz and classic, having performed on stage in 2005 with flutist Nestor Torres in the Puerto Rico Heineken Jazz Fest, with jazz percussionist Paoli Mejias in 2006, with the Puerto Rico Symphonic Orchestra in 2006 and 2007, and with Dave Valent?n in the Puerto Rico Heineken Jazz Fest of 2007.
His appearance at the 2005 Puerto Rico Heineken Jazz Festival makes Chiesa the youngest musician to step up into that stage. He is currently under the mentoring and guidance of flute professor Ruben L?pez, which is a member of the Puerto Rico Symphonic Orchestra.He currently collaborates with singer/composer Danny Rivera. Ricardo's first CD, titled "Paso a Paso Entre Amigos" (Step by Step Among Friends) was released in late june 2007. In this production bassist Ram?n Vazquez participates as composer, arranger and as musician. In addition to Ram?n V?zquez, some of the most talented jazz musicians in Puerto Rico participated in this CD. These include trompet player Humberto Ram?rez, pianist Yan Carlos Artime, percussionist Javier Oquendo and drummer Efra?n Toro.
Ricardo Chiesa's Paso a Paso Entre Amigos presents us a very intriguing and interesting musical proposal in which latin jazz rythms are intermingled with Puerto Rican "salsa", "bomba", and "danza", producing an exquisite musical experience, centered on Chiesa's virtuosity. This CD, which has been highly praised by local press, was prenominated to the 2008 Latin Grammy Awards.
