Having worked with some exceptionally talented film makers such as: Robert Towne, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Zhang Yimou, Oliver Stone, Tom Cruise, and Robert Dornhelm- Randy Miller has created a career with music that ranges from small ensemble combinations to full orchestral compositions. ?Composing film music has been and continues to be a deeply emotional and rewarding experience,? said Miller. ?I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to apply my skills in the traditional, jazz, pop, electronic and world idioms."

Miller said, he feels his strongest assets are, ?the ability to understand the drama of a film and get to the heart of what a director is trying to communicate? and ?to compose a score that adds texture, color and dimension to the project, with the just right amount of emotion.?

Miller has also collaborated with recording artists such as electronic music pioneer BT,
world recording artist Kitaro and urban rap artist Michael Franti of Spearhead.

?I have always enjoyed and explored the use of unusual acoustic instrumental combinations as well as cutting edge electronics and synths,? said Miller. ?Some of my most enjoyable and fulfilling projects have been with just a few instruments mixed with electronic textures.?

Randy Miller has composed and conducted his scores with diverse orchestras in many
cities around the world including: London, Munich, Bratislava, Prague, Moscow, Dublin,
Miami, Seattle and Los Angeles, as well as from his recording facilities in Topanga and at his mountain retreat in the Sequoia National Forest.

Accolades received during his musical career include: Best Original Score at the Hong
Kong and Taiwan Film awards for his work on THE SOONG SISTERS, which combined
authentic Chinese folk instruments with a sweeping orchestral score, a DVD Premiere
Award for Best Original Score for his work on PRANCER RETURNS, as well as providing
additional music for the Kitaro/Oliver Stone Vietnam war drama HEAVEN AND EARTH,
which won a Golden Globe for Best Score.

Randy Miller received a degree in composition from Boston's Berklee College of Music.
In addition, Miller studied piano with the legendary Bostonian pedagogue Mme. Margaret
Chaloff. During that time he orchestrated and composed music for several theater
companies. Graduate studies led Randy to the University of Southern California in Los
Angeles. Miller hails from Ellenville, New York and is the son of Catskills vocalist and
entertainer, Muriel King.
