PETER PRINCE has taken his musician's soul and filmmaker's eye from Central America to the South Pacific, from the Haida Gwaii to the Himalayas and beyond, but his greatest inspiration is rooted close to home. The skilled west-coast troubadour and documentary filmmaker hails from Salt Spring Island, where he has hung his hat for 25 years. On a sunny day you may find him strumming his guitar by the shimmering waters of the Salish Sea, creating music out of light and space. He has composed soundtracks for Film and TV and produced 5 albums of original music. As he hits the road with his latest release, PACIFIC DAY, new fans are discovering his distinctive sound; an elegant fusion of acoustic-roots and global grooves. With a potent voice and cinematic lyrics, he delivers songs of heart and substance. Ear-catching musical journeys influenced by Folk, Jazz, and World Music are gathered from his life and travels. Peter is renowned for the compelling stories behind his songs and passionate performances. When he appears with his talented backing band, their improvisational alchemy makes each show an unforgettable experience.
The Folk/World sounds of his first album, SEA OF DREAMS is the perennial favorite of many visitors to Canada's west-coast. It explores Peter's connection to the spirit of First Nations people and the islands of British Columbia. On ROARING FROM THE SOUL OF A LION, he puts his poetry to music that celebrates the bumpy road of life and love, while merging elements of Folk, Rock and Jazz. WHISPERING RAIN is an acoustic feast for the ears as the tunes flow from Peter's guitar, harmonica and vocals. The album features Tara MacLean's vibrant vocal harmonies and Oool Fjolkunnigr's flair for ethnic instrumental touches. On LIGHT DANCE, he teams up with Oool to create a recording of instrumental music. A contemplative fusion of earthy and mellow guitar compositions that blend eastern and western melodies with mandolin, flute, violin, piano and double bass.
