"Bella Grace" is the first solo album for singer/songwriter Amy Cole. Singing since she was a little girl growing up in the heartland of Nebraska, Amy has established her own unique style while emulating some of rock, gospel and country's greats. Amy's path has taken her from the living-room singing with a Yamaha keyboard to the church choir to various rock bands. One such band, "Soulbelly," won her and her mates the best new artist award from the Los Angeles Music Awards. Brenda Linguiti at CMJ compared Amy's vocal style with Natalie Merchant and Mary Ramsey fronting 10,000 Maniacs.
Brenda wrote, "Cole's young but classic sounding voice carries the music's melody with an edge that adds intrigue and depth to her lyrics." Jennifer Layton of Indie-Music.com said, "vocalist Amy Cole has a beautiful, mesmerizing voice. I love how she stretches and bends her voice." referring to Amy's performance on Soulbelly's CD "simple chaotic". After spending six years with Soulbelly, Amy decided that her path was something different and Soulbelly parted ways amicably to each pursue their own musical passions. After a lot of soul searching and the birth of her first child, Amy decided that she wanted to find her musical "soul" again. Remaking old hymns and spirituals seemed to be the answer. Thus, "Bella Grace" Began. Bryan Belknap, at "Group" Magazine says, "Cole offers ethereal translations of classic hymns such as "Holy, Holy, Holy" and "Be Thou My Vision" against a trip-hop backdrop." (Mar/Apr 2006)
