Andria Degens (dee-jens), was born in Caterham, Surrey, England, and is the artist behind Pantaleimon (pan-ta-lay-mon). Her beautiful songs lie somewhere between British folk music, Appalachian mountain music and droney, psychedelic ambience. Her approach is minimalist, and contains an unmatched simplicity and purity. Pantaleimon's sound is dominated by simple, finger-picked melodies, drones, and Degens' gorgeous and heartbreaking voice.
Pantaleimon has played with a host of influential artists, such as Bonnie ?Prince' Billy, Current 93, Antony & the Johnsons, Six Organs of Admittance, 16 Horsepower, James Blackshaw, Dirty Three, Nurse With Wound and Lightning Bolt, to name but a few. She has also worked with the renowned film director Cam Archer.
Pantaleimon have released EPs and singles and three albums. Her last album, ?Heart of the Sun', contained remixes of Pantaleimon's works by artists such as Andrew W.K., Stephen O'Malley, Fovea Hex and Chris Carter/Cosey Fanny Tutti, as well as containing four new songs. That release was swiftly followed by an EP 'Tall Trees' in 2009. Andria Degens is currently working on the next Pantaleimon album with Hugo Race.
