Nature and Organisation is a neofolk, neoclassical and industrial project of British musician Michael Cashmore, who's also an important member of Current 93 and has written the music for many of Current 93's songs over the last 15 years. Nature and Organisation saw its first release in 1986, a cassette ("Third Terminal Position") on the label Sound of Pig, consisting of experimental post-industrial soundscapes performed before a live audience.

A period of dormancy followed until 1994, when Nature and Organisation released an EP ("A Dozen Summers Against the World") and an album ("Beauty Reaps the Blood of Solitude") through Durtro, David Tibet's music label. Unlike the 1986 release, these two albums feature a lush and layered sound, containing elements of the previous post-industrial and noise sound of the cassette, but also featuring a focus on neoclassical, acoustic folk, and piano-led arrangements.
The 1994 releases notably also feature many musicians appearing on various releases distributed by World Serpent Distribution, including Douglas P. of Death in June, David Tibet of Current 93, Rose McDowall of Strawberry Switchblade and Sorrow, and Steven Stapleton of Nurse With Wound.
1998 saw the release of Nature and Organisation's most recent album to date, "Death in a Snow Leopard Winter". Released on Cashmore's own Snow Leopard Records imprint, "Death in a Snow Leopard Winter", according to Cashmore, was released in an incomplete state, and consists largely of piano arrangements with some viola, violin, and cello accompaniment.
