Mo Green started out as most bands do playing covers and trying to find our own musical Identity. Most of us had played with other bands and were looking to do something different and more gratifying. From the very beginning our strong suit was our live performance and we started getting a good local following. We were consistently asked back even in the days when we were still struggling to learn the music.
Although we were having fun playing covers, it was inevitable that sooner or later we would be writing and performing our own music. Being asked to open for an original act at the China Beach Club in San Clemente inspired us to write our first original as Mo Green ? Falling Away. Performing it live and getting a great crowd reaction helped inspire us to continue writing more originals.
Within a year of writing our first song we had our Debut CD ? Home, which went on to received great reviews. We continued writing music and performing the songs live at larger and larger venues in front of well known acts. We have played at places like The Coach House, The Belly Up Theatre, The Galaxy Theatre, The Irvine Spectrum, Doheny Rock Festival, and so on in front of acts such as Berlin, The Motels, Dave Wakeling and the English Beat, Poco's Paul Cotton. Eventually we had enough of a following in Orange County to headline our own show at The Coach House. We have received recognition in places as far away as New York all the way to South America were we were told by a fan that our music was heard playing on some radio stations there.
Our goal has been to write songs that have their own unique sound with no ?Roses are Red, Violets are Blue? lyrics. Our music is based on our own experiences but is written in a way that people can make it their own. We have fans as young as 12 all the way up to people in their sixties and seventies ? each having their own personal favorite song. Or web page http://www.mogreen.com has been averaging over 200 hits per week and growing. We have re-mixed our original CD and adding 3 new songs which we have pre-released via the web under the name ?Home Again?. We have had great feedback/reviews on our three new songs ? Fate, World, and ?The Circle?. Our intention is to keep updating it until we have a total of 5 or 6 new songs that we can be proud of before cutting our next official CD.
While there are thousands of cover and original bands in Southern California many of which have very talented and gifted players, few can match our intensity and commitment to the song. We really enjoy performing live and feeding off of the crowd's energy. This is our reward and reason for playing.
