Metlay has been releasing electronic music since the early 1980s and is best known for his collaborative efforts with other musicians: the Team Metlay projects of the 1990s, the Different Skies music festival, and the mindSpiral projects from 2005 until the present day.
Metlay began recording his own compositions in 1982. He grew up listening to early electronic music by Wendy Carlos, discovered Tangerine Dream and Jean-Michel Jarre in his teens, and quickly staked out a style of his own, blending addictive rhythms with a dark-ambient atmosphere.
