Magnus Hitch is a band committed to fusing the ideals of vintage psychedelic and progressive rock with a modern post-rock attitude and a devotion to manipulating technology to enrich the sonic landscape. All of these elements are combined with a deep respect for jazz-fusion musicianship and truly prolific song writing to create an original blend of influence and music. The group's heady progressive psyche rock pulls heavily from the acid-inspired vintage rock of the 60's and 70's but also culls plenty from the new wave scene.
And it's all wrapped up in a post-modern sound that even features a dollop of pop accessibility.
The first meeting of Dave Farina (Drums, Keys, Vocals) and David Powell (Guitar, Samples, Vocals) in the Summer of 2006 planted the seeds for what would become Magnus Hitch. A little line-up tinkering followed and Paul Hiller (Bass, Keys, Vocals) joined the group in the Fall of 2007 and the San Francisco based trio immediately went into the studio to record their self-titled debut EP. Recorded by Charlie Buetter at San Francisco's acclaimed Hyde Street Studios, the self titled EP features a fuzzed-out but focused batch of psyche energy that brings all the band's major influences to bear under their artistic magnifying glass. Earnest and edgy and a transcending trip through rock, 'Magnus Hitch' is a hip-yet-brainy musical excursion. The band relocated to Los Angeles in the Fall of 2008 and is currently blowing up the SoCal scene. With their 1st full length LP due out Fall 09' watch for the band to be hitting the road next Spring and Summer at a venue or festival near you!
