Kohere formed in mid 2005 from the coastal city of Wollongong.
The name Kohere originated from the word coherent, meaning: to stick together and to be naturally and logically connected. The band was established by two members Daniel Surridge and Ben Lawrence of a former band, started playing with close friends: Robert Boyle, Andrew Lawrence and Matthew Gunner. After several jam sessions the band developed a metal influenced hardcore sound. After a couple of shows the band went through a member change, replacing vocalist Robert to current vocalist Mitchell Turner. With the new vocalist came a more energetic and upbeat vibe, shifting the band into a new direction.
In February 2006 the band went into the studio to record a 2 track demo. After the demos release the band parted ways with Andrew Lawrence and replaced him with current bassist Kesava Commerford.
