Jimmy Bowen & Santa Fe For over 22 years Jimmy Bowen has pleased audiences on the blue grass circuit; first with the famed Country Gentlemen, then with the Continental Divide, and now as Jimmy Bowen and Santa Fe. In 2007 Jimmy and the band decided to exhibit their musical virtuosity by going into one of Dolly Parton's favorite recording studios and producing a toe-tappin' country album. For over 22 years Jimmy Bowen has pleased audiences on the blue grass circuit; first with the famed Country Gentlemen, then with the Continental Divide, and now as Jimmy Bowen and Santa Fe.
In 2007 Jimmy and the band decided to exhibit their musical virtuosity by going into one of Dolly Parton's favorite recording studios and producing a toe-tappin' country album. Has Jimmy's foray into country music shocked the innards of the bluegrass community? Heck no! On stage Jimmy's ?just right? mix is entertainingly unique; so much so, that he's been signed for appearances in Norway this summer, with an appearance or two in the Netherlands and other overseas venues.
The Charlotte, North Carolina native moved to Nashville, bringing his Harley with him, ?just in case the gas prices go too high.? A graduate of The Citadel, he's lost any military airs he developed during college... and he infects audiences with the enjoyment he feels when he's on stage.
Wherever Jimmy Bowen & Santa Fe perform, they get the audience on their feet and provide them with a down home musical experience. Jimmy Bowen & Santa Fe are veteran performers that know how to warm up an audience. Their music has taken them to such venues as The Grand Ole Opry, Nashville Now, and they've performed at The White House, and at the Smithsonian.
In 2007 Jimmy was on the MerleFest bill with Pam Tillis, Roy Clark, Elvis Costello, the Dirt Band, Allison Kraus, Marty Stuart and Vince Gill.
?I feel lucky to be able to make my living making music,? said Bowen, ?and I intend to keep doing what I love.?
