Jay Hails

Jay Hails is one of Canada's best songwriters. He was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, a university town sparkling on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River. He crafts songs of ineffable beauty wrapped in shadows. His style ranges from folk to country to sixties-flavoured, punk-influenced rock. His role models are outsider authors (Salinger, Blake, Selby, Roth, Wilde) and songwriters with a lyrical bent (Lou Reed, Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon, Jim Morrison). His sound fits comfortably alongside Ryan Adams, Jesse Malin, Josh Rouse, Hawksley Workman, Jakob Dylan.
