Georgia Mancio's music is a reflection of her Anglo-Latino background: predominantly a jazz standards singer born and raised in the UK, her musical lineage goes back first to her Italian grandparents (an opera singer and concert pianist) and then to her Uruguayan great-grandmother, also a pianist. Her music and lyric writing are greatly influenced by her affinity with language and languages and she sings in English, Italian, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.
As a child she played classical flute, went on to train as an actor and film-maker before returning to her musical roots to study jazz and voice. Since turning professional in 2000 she has: supported Cedar Walton at Ronnie Scott's (2008); performed with Bobby McFerrin (London Jazz Festival 2003); Sheila Jordan and David Linx (Belgium 2006); Frank Griffith Nonet; Liane Carroll and most recently in concert with Ian Shaw, Norma Winstone and Anita Wardell (The True Jazz Voice, Poole 2008). In 2005 she won first prize at the First Brussels International Young Jazz Singers' Competition and formed her own band with UK players Gareth Lockrane, John Pearce, Julie Walkington/Dave Green, Dave Ohm and the Brazilian Anselmo Netto.
