Fitzgerald & Beach was a blues based acoustic duo that incorporated musical perspectives. D.C. Fitzgerald played guitar and sang with Bob Beach adding harmonica, flute and vocals. They employed gospel, R & B, rock & roll, country and of course the blues in both original material and unique arrangements. Bob and D.C. performed together on and off since the early 1970's and truly appreciated and complemented each other's musical talents.
Their last recording was "Pilot Me" released in the Spring of 2006 on BoneDog Records. In August of 2004 Fitzgerald & Beach released "Joyful Noise", a collection of spiritual and gospel tunes both original and from other sources. Previous recorded works include Muddy Water Into Wine (2002) "Blues, New and Used"(1997), "Old School" a collection of early recordings by the duo and "Live DC" .
Live performances included Northeast Folk Alliance Showcases, DelMarVa Folk Festival, Calliope Folk Series, Three Rivers Arts Festival, the 2004 Philadelphia Folk Festival, Spring Fever Folk Festival, Forksville Folk Festival, Hickory Fest, Lansdowne Folk Club, the Point, Club Caf?, World Caf? Live and many house concerts and coffeehouses. DC Fitzgerald was a veteran of blues and folk venues for over 30 years and performed everywhere from Rome to Kerrville, Texas. In 1995 he performed in the Pittsburgh City Theater's production of Woody Guthrie, An American Song'. The production was the taken on the road for a tour of the South and Mid-West. DC produced a recording for Washington state vocalist Libby Goines and has been involved in both performance and production duties for a number of other recording projects. His sideman credits include accompanying Tom Paxton. DC was based in Pittsburgh, PA where he taught guitar, played regularly and produced other artists.
DC Fitzgerald passed away Nov. 13, 2006.
Bob Beach's flute, harmonica, and vocal talents have been part of the classic rock band American Music and the Bob Beach Blues Band since the early 1980s. He also played harmonica on the Corbin Hanner Band hit "Oklahoma Crude," from their second album. Bob now lives in Philadelphia, PA He produced the Philadelphia Jug Band's first CD and has been playing with them regularly. Bob performs in the Philadelphia area on a regular basis with The Christine Havrilla Band and The Bob Beach Trio. Bob has been used as a session player by many local artists. He is the musical director for the 1st Light Team Alternative Worship band of Lansdowne Presbyterian Church. This band has brought a unique sound to Worship services around the Philadelphia area. The 2002, 2004 and 2006 Philadelphia Folk Festivals featured Bob's music in numerous workshops and other performances. A Fitzgerald & Beach show featured strong instrumental skills, innovative songwriting, years of performing experience and a unique presentation of the blues and its relatives.
