Falling Stars Burn Bright from Akron, Ohio formed in 2001 with the predetermination to completely invert what was, at the time, a dry local scene. On top of that, it was their objective to push the limits of, not only hardcore, metal, and indie, but all genres by creating intense and innovative songs and albums. Over the years, they have developed their sound, gone through several lineup changes, played countless shows, locally and out of state, and made friends, with acts such as Haste the Day, Still Remains...
Northeast Ohio's Falling Stars Burn Bright was informally created in 2001 by longtime friends (guitarist) Ian Holmes and (vocalist) Andrew Wells. The two began piecing together songs and recording winter acoustic sessions on a cheap, used tape deck. Several basement jams and bedroom mosh pits later, the boys placed Holmes' younger brother and percussionist, Isaac Andrew, behind a drum kit and held practices at their home near Akron, OH. Soon after, high school companions Aaron Shreve and Luke Howard took the role of bass and additional guitar to complete what was the official lineup.
The group started booking shows at bars, basements, recreation halls, and pretty much anywhere else with a working PA system and a tolerance for noisy teenagers. They started gaining a respectable local following and produced their first EP, Across the Sky, in 2002 for sale at shows and online. Though the album received little recognition and more copies were undoubtedly given away than sold, the band continued to progress, being asked to play for larger crowds at better venues, and traveling out of state to perform.
After a year and a half of endless promotion and playing out, bassist Shreve split ways with the quintet and was replaced by Darron Ball, a friend they had met while attending local metal shows, in 2003. Luckily, he meshed well with Falling Stars, at just the right time, and started writing and performing with them almost immediately. The following year, Mr. Wells resigned as front man, leaving the position for Darron, whose part on bass was recovered by Luke's little brother, Tim Howard. As confusing as it may sound, it has worked ever since.
On July 9th 2006, Falling Stars Burn Bright unofficially released their first full length, "How We Create the Motions" (recorded, designed, produced, and packaged by the band). They constantly persist to develop their songwriting and challenge themselves to experiment as well as put on a fun, loud, and intense live show every time they perform. This is year number five for FSBB and hopefully just the beginning.
