Esthetic Education is an alternative/indie rock band originating from Kyiv, Ukraine. Its members are Louis Franck (vocals), Dima Shurov (keyboards), Iura Khustochka (bass), Illya Galushko (guitars), and Tolya Shmargun (drums). It was formed in 2004 after Shurov and Khustochka left the successful Ukrainian band ????? ?????. It would be a headache to invent the terms to define the music of this formation, but nobody doubts that it is the group that promises to carve a special place on the Ukrainian stage and perhaps, on world stage too.
They already gave concerts in Europe where people were impressed by their music and energy.
Their songs are just great: touching, beatiful melodies, original arrangements, interesting approach, full of soul and positive thinking.
With their debut (Face Reading) they were searching for sound of their own experimenting with different things, so it sounded more like a demo sessions but Werewolf has this ?record' mood, like it's one piece of work. And it's pure perfection.
Powered by piano and strong voice of Lou Frank all songs are united altogether yet every tune itself is a little masterpiece.
The record opens up with ?Unbelievable' and it's sort of sets the mood for the rest of the album. This is probably one of the record's highlights and it's also radio-friendly (which believe me: doesn't always mean bad). Other highlights include melancholic ?Regret' with its repetitive chorus ?Regret is what you get?, ?Mercury Rising', the cover of the famous Ukrainian tune ?Shedry Schedryk', probably every Ukrainian remembers this tune from his childhood, Esthetic Education not only created an awesome lyrics but also gave this song a modern twist and breathe in the new life into it. ?The King is Dead'- a 4 minute hysteria, which could make you sing along; romantic ?Resonance' and playful ?Butterfly' (with female vocals on the background), a love ballade 'Broken Arrow' and ?Vasil Vasiltsiv' , as a bonus track, which is actually a kind of joke, but nevertheless it doesn't spoil the mood (that's the sin of almost every bonus track) of the record at all.
