Electric Tiger (ET) was formed in 2003, originally as a vehicle for Woden Thoth's compositions, but shortly after recording their first album Electric Tiger, that purpose was dropped (although the album Shamrock features some of Thoth's compositions) and the band continue to pursue an entirely improvisational approach to music making. Self-described as "slambient psychedelic", ET's lineup includes Woden Thoth on electric mandolin, bass guitar...
ET currently has five albums available
- Electric Tiger
- Tanzmusik
- Dian Hu ('electric tiger' in Chinese)
- Shamrock
- Instant Music
ET's music can be described as multilayered (ET claims that they could never actually reproduce it live) ambient/dark ambient/slambient psychedelic heavy metal built around the notion that "there are no wrong notes" (Thoth's mantra) and what Thoth calls "chaos factors", which are things like sudden drum machine changes, whimsical musical ideas, recording setups, etc. Thoth has described it as being like a jamband based on forms of heavy metal rather than blues with jazzlike improvisation and complete disregard for any conventions or rules.
While ET says that "the Tiger is sleeping", more releases are expected from unreleased material, including projects using looping devices and a rumored "cover song" album featuring cover versions of psychedelic hit songs from the late sixties as interpreted by ET.
