Abscondo began as the solo recording project of Mark Manney, an American musician, writer, and social commentator. The name "Abscondo" comes from the word "abscond". It represents the idea of hiding away from the normal, shunning conformity and seeking freedom so that we can become our unique, original selves. In 2012, Abscondo became a full band when Mark met a few extraordinarily talented musicians in Ko?ice, Slovakia.

The Abscondo debut Album, "Midnight Snow", was released in 2008. The album has been well-received, with thousands of downloads and 100,000's of listens. "Midnight Snow" is a deeply personal concept album.
On November 11th, 2011, Abscondo released the solo album "Victory in a Landlocked Sea" also as a free download. The album considers questions of love, place, and meaning within the context of a quest for beauty and happiness. It examines the struggle between planning and being, between commitment and freedom, and between practicality and desire.
In 2012, the band begins performing material from both of these albums in Slovakia and beyond. Abscondo will also be releasing a final, updated version of "Victory in a Landlocked Sea" through iTunes and other channels later in the year.
