There are at least four artists with this name: 1) Djinn is an Italian depressive-industrial-ambient act formed in 1999 by Alex Vintras. His music combines the atmospheric layers and reverberations prominent in dark ambient music, and combines it with the experimentation and rhythmic qualities of second-wave industrial music. His work is known to commonly use samples from multiple sources, be it field recordings of Gregorian chants, audio clips from famous films, or even snippets of classical compositions.
2) The Djinn Band was founded in 1983 in Split (Croatia). They were influenced by bands like Slayer,Venom and Motorhead. When band was formed it was called Evil Blood. By that name they recorded a couple of demos. In 1989 they changed their name in Lord of Darkness. In 1991 they recorded demo called Seventh Sabbat. In 1995 they changed name again,to DJINN. In the same year they moved out to London and continue their work. In 2003 they relased compilation, 20 YEARS OF DJINN(greatest hits -1983-1986). Last year Abbadon, a past drummer for Venom, joined Djinn. They are still active.
3) Djinn is a solo UK-based singer, songwriter producer and composer who found acclaim after featuring on the hit charity single, Donasian, alongside A.R Rahman and Mukhtar Sahota.. This was later followed but the release of his debut album Just A Thought, also featured on mainstream media such as Channel 4, Sky and others. 4) Djinn is Brooklyn's own ?East Coast Tribal? group, featuring, cumbus, hurdy gurdy, beatbox, doumbek and theramin. The streamable album The Middle East Side belongs to this second group.
5) dJinn is a late 1970s/early 1980s band founded in Groningen, the Netherlands. They released one full lenght: Tip Toe through the Backdoor.
