Born in Sudbury, Ontario raised with four older brothers, lived in Montreal for several years before moving to Vancouver, where she calls home. Carolyn is a late bloomer unto the music scene, waiting until after marrying & having 3 children to launch into a music career. With various busking, church singing, contest experiences behind her, she restarted in much the same way as where she left off.
In 2005, friends encouraged her to record some songs. Money always being an obstacle for young families, & new artists, she recorded 'Acoustic' via her computer with a computer mic. She started playing open mics around Vancouver, and in 2006, entered a contest & won recording time. "Living on the borderline" was the product. The song went on to win 'Best Christian/Spiritual Song' of 2006 on iacmusic.com, nominated and voted by other artists. Beginning of 2007, she recorded 'Angel On My Shoulder', with the desire to do more recordings but financially unable. In the summer of 2007, she was joined by a new drummer, and a guitarist for a gig at 'The Yale'. She kept the 5 songs done live & put them on a 'Live at the Yale' CD. There's a whole story about this show found in the sleeve CD sleeve.
Carolyn's story is like many other artists, playing hard to be heard & balancing a family life to continue with a passion to bring you her best. Styles of songs range from songwriter, soft rock, blues, jazz to a hint of country. It all depends on the song. The songs are uplifting, reflective & catchy, the stories are familiar to the point where you feel you've lived them.
She has been compared to many artists, Sheryl Crow, Joan Baez, Janis Joplin, Tracey Chapman. Look forward to a new full studio CD coming out in early 2009.
