Biography: Trio slicnaton fits squarely between european free improvisation and modern electronic music. Think free jazz gone Stockhausen. The Trios' sound is ambient improvisation in a electronic classical meets free-jazz in a concert hall. Violin and bass clarinet take the lead with accompaniment from composer Nicholas Slaton on electronics table and acoustic bass. The trio performs written pieces with built in improvisation creating detailed drones and active ambiance, featuring horns and strings mixed with live electronics and looping.

Press Reviews:
?slicnaton uses improvisation to create drone like music, with lots of attention for the smaller details, the smaller electronic particles. Clarinets and violin take the leading part, but things are cleverly mixed together... ...sounds swirl around; around eachother, around the room moving in and out the mix making things organic and atmospheric. A bit of modern classical touches thrown in, make this altogether quite a pleasant CD. ? Vital Weekly
"composed melodies played by the violin and woodwind are sampled and looped in real-time, with the outcome a dense multi-layered mass of percolating detail." Textura
?funereal tones of the bass clarinet against the sounds of a distant war, with enough bizarre threatening buzz and drone to be regarded as the first ever tone poem for the beekeeper set.? Terrascope
?Hundreds of colorful butterflies flying around you fluttering their wings and smiling as the beautiful day brings peace to all. Try this one for something different!? KUCI Irvine
?slow-turning, droney pieces are pervaded by both dread and wonder...grotty harmonics and scuzzy, brain-melting overtones are the rich broth of this soup.? WZRD Chicago
?Sounds of vintage washing machines, chatting and laughing from the kitchen staff, aleatory pizzicatos and sinister rattling percussion deliver the right amount of needed toughness.? Tibul?
