The Stewart-Mayfield Project (also known as Moses Mayfield) is an alt. rock band fronted by Matthew Mayfield and based in Birmingham, Alabama. They described as straight-ahead jazz meets rock, brings an up-tempo pop vibe to its music. Will Mason, electric guitar player, brings the influences of Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Dave Gilmour, and other lead guitarists from the classic rock era. His style is a unique blend of technical skill and feel playing.
Matt "Saxman" Taylor brought the phrase straight ahead jazz meets rock to the Stewart~Mayfield Project. His playing brings a richness and warmth to the band's already unique sound. His musical influences include John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, and Cannonball Adderly, to name a few.
Hans Ford, bass player, grew up on bass, pulling from legendary artists such as Victor Wooten, Stanley Clarke, and B?la Fleck. He enjoys playing up-tempo jazz and brings funky, melodic bass lines to the music.
Robert Vann, an incredible drummer, enjoys bringing his funk/improv style of playing to The Stewart~Mayfield Project. Influenced by Butch Trucks, Chris Fryer, and Jon Fishman, Vann is an extremely talented musician.
