Bio
The band started life as the practical component for a University degree in 2004, set up to demonstrate the internet as the music industry's future. 2005 saw the release of the debut The Ground Below, a collection of 10 tracks recorded by frontman and sole member Karsten Schwardt in his basement studio.
Karsten kept recording under the Era moniker, while starting a musical collaboration with ex-Fang member Brignall Wood. In 2008, the follow-up A Little Less Gravity was launched through the same independent online channels as its predecessor.
Third album Too Many Damaged Heroes followed on 8 December 2009, which also saw the Era take their material to the stage for the first time. Among the six live members was Battle Circus lead guitarist Marcel Bellve who later left the Era when his other band relocated to the US.
The Era currently records as a three-piece of Karsten on vocals and guitar, Brignall on drums and Leal Butler on bass. They are working on new material to be released as their fourth album in 2011. With more 'anti-gloss pop' on the way plans are being made to tour the material more extensively.
