Slam Dunk Contest

Slam Dunk Contest is the brain child of Nashville, TN native Scott Van Dusen. A rock band with poppy, yet complex melodies, Slam Dunk Contest mixes elements of PowerPop, Heavy Rock, and the occasional bit of video game music. Influences include Self, Jellyfish, Hum, Glassjaw, Failure, CrashTest Dummies, XTC, and too many more to note. Scott was born in Abilene, Texas in February of 1982; his family moved to Nashville a year later.

After playing with previous Nashville bands Popular Genius and Born Empty, he formed his own band. He enlisted his brother, Shawn Van Dusen, on bass and fellow-former Popular Genius member Andrew Bissell on drums. Rounding out the band on guitar is local Whit Stiles.
