New Republic began in January of 2005 after the band played together under the name THE-PITS for 7 years. Brothers Jonathan (guitar, vocals) and David Julca (vocals, guitar, piano), formed the band after moving from their native country of Panama in 1996. Not long after Jack Huston (bass, vocals) and Ryan Knerr (drums) joined the brothers. Libertad is the first recording of New Republic, which was produced by Matt Hyde (Sum 41, Slayer, No Doubt) and The Julca Brothers.
The sound of Libertad is a subconscious image of the bands influences which are derived from broad musical styles such as latin, rock, and hip hop. New Republic are a band that refuse be pigeon-holed into only one standard genre of music and that desire sets them apart from the pack. The EP marks new beginning for a group of musicians who will no doubt push the rock envelope to new limits for years to come.
