Leah Morgan

Leah Morgan is singer/songwriter from Mclean, Virginia in the US. Leah Morgan was born with performance flowing through her veins in Washington DC. She attributes this foundation to her mother who would play piano and sing, encouraging her baby Leah to join in. She began taking piano lessons in 2nd grade and took part in local theatrical productions. Her first professional performance was at the Arena Stage, playing Polya in Crime and Punishment. During her senior year in high school, she took up guitar in an attempt to emulate one of her earliest influences, the Indigo Girls.

Leah attended Oberlin College in Ohio where she studied music and graduated with honors in Economics. After school she was faced with two choices: going to law school or getting a job at an environmental economics consulting firm. She was offered two jobs but decided to do neither and joined the ranks of starving artists in New York City where she went to the Tisch School of New York University for their summer musical theater program. She now lives at home, rent-free, where she continues to pursue her art.

Leah has shared her captivating voice and engaging, witty delivery at The Barns of Wolf Trap, Iota Club & Caf?, and Jammin' Java, and has appeared with national touring artists such as David Wilcox, Terry Hendrix, Frank Bango, and Tom Freund. Her debut album, Zero Dollars Spent, reached the 10 top-selling albums at Awarestore.com, and was selected The Washington Post mp3 'Top Pick' and among LeftOfftheDial.com's the "Best Mid-Atlantic Releases of 2003." Recently, Leah was selected as a winner in the Berkeley Park Records Original Song Competition, sponsored by a Los Angeles-based record label.
