Mark Whitty was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. After seeing a 1950's live performance of Louis Armstrong and the All-Stars. He became a Louis fan forever. He became a jazz vocalist in1956, and bought a trumpet in 1960 and started learning piano as well. In 1970 he bought a Hammond organ & often gigged as a one-man band. In 1980 he added his sons Patrick and Richard, forming Doctor Jazz and Sons. They recorded a cassette tape, "Jazz BBQ At Narooma".
In 1990 he reverted to a solo multi-instrumentalist with a suitcase Steinway and B4 Hammond organ, gigging three years on a luxury train.
In 2000 he recorded "Under The Influence" (all his own compositions) with his sons and other fine side-men.
In 2001 he transposed the early cassette to CD adding a top guitarist & drummer.
This was released as JBBQ2 and later added to "Under The Influence" to form double album, "The Complete Fine Tunes" CFT4
In 2005 he released "Fine Tunes Book" CD-rom, CDBS5
In 2007 he launched the paperback book edition, "Fine Tunes"
In 2008 His EP single, "Salt Lake City Blues" SLC6 was released.
He is still gigging and planning to record another album. Stay tuned.
