Indie music with a folksy side, a soft side, a semi-soft side, and a medium-hard one.
Bio / Background
The Moviegoers is the band you would be listening to right now if your girlfriend wasn't controlling the radio, making you listen to the station that plays Guster and The String Cheese Incident.
The Moviegoers is the band you would be playing in if we had struck up a conversation one sunny day by the pool and it turned out you played tuba or viola or harp. Or the drums.
The Moviegoers is the band you might enjoy if you looked through all of your CDs and you didn't want to listen to any of them. Instead you wanted to listen to something that sounded a little like all of them, but recorded through less expensive microphones.
Also, three of us met in New York. We have a strong Columbia Uni connection; three alums...The other guy in the band just happened to be the brother of one of the other guys who met the girl and the other guy in New York.
We were living in New Orleans, working on music, but our town got flooded. We have moved to California and plan to keep working on new stuff.
↓ more ↓The bands that we like are you know, the really good stuff, rock, indie, and soul. Beatles, Kinks, Pavement, Radiohead, Talking Heads, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Pixies, Philip Glass, TV on the Radio, Sufjan Stevens, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Al Green, Steve Reich, Alvin Lucier, and Jesus. To presume that any of these people have actually found their way into our music seems a little pretentious. And we would know.
PS-We recently changed our name from "Your Future in Plastics" to "The Moviegoers" sorry for the confusion!!!
