Bio / Background
Haunting melodies and poetic lyrics are Mark's signature. On the CD "Ghosts of Eden" Mark captures the soulful fire of his live performances. He uses guitars, harmonica, cellos, violins and steel guitar to convey raw emotion, not over-polished corporate pop-rock.
Mark enjoyed recording these songs with such gifted musicians, as the layedback Bill Pillmore, who with his band "COWBOY", was a pioneer of the country rock scene and recorded for Capricorn Records (he also recorded with the late Duane Allman of the "Allman Brothers"); Landon Walker who has performed with many great jazz artists such as Dizzy Gillespie, and Lionel Hampton; Linda Minke who has played with various symphonies and is currently performing with the Jacksonville Symphony; Craig Barnette who has played with the "southern fried soulful funk" band "MoFro".
Mark Williams is the first musical artist to get a grant (2003 recipient) from the Community Foundation of Jacksonville and the J. Shepard, Jr.
