Bio / Background
Jazz Guitarist
Chris White hails from Los Angeles but now resides in Oshkosh Wisconsin. Chris has studied all disciplines of guitar.
Having lived all over America and Central Europe, White has developed a unique jazz style, drawing from several influences.
He began his formal studies in Wichita Kansas under Rusty Russell, who moved to Nashville and played with Louise Mandrell. Rusty now writes for Guitar Player, Frets, as well as many other publications.
Chris majored in music at St. Mary's in Winona Minnesota. While there, he studied jazz harmonies and improvisation with Chris Rosenberg, from The Manhattan School of Music and Ornette Coleman Group. Eventually moving to Minneapolis, to study funk guitar with Miko Weaver who was with Prince at the time.
With such an extremely unique background, Chris White's debut HIDEAWAY is a powerful work in contemporary jazz. Soulful vocals of Joe Jordan and Janet Planet add even another dimension to this extensive CD.
