Country-rock Americana drawing on folk, country, rock, blues and rockabilly styles
Bio / Background
Formed spontaneously out of the primordial ooze, Whisperado - now five billion years old - has finally almost learned to play its instruments. Whisperado is Jon Sobel (vocals, bass), Patrick Nielsen Hayden (guitar, vocals) and David Mills (drums) playing Americana songs patched together from rock, country, folk, and silliness.
EDITORIAL REVIEWS:
"Should be in every literate music fan's collection... My first thought after popping Some Other Place into my CD player was how much Jon sounds like an articulate Bob Dylan (or Mark Knopfler, which makes more sense with the cover of 'The Bug')." - Anna Creech, Blogcritics
"The musicianship is excellent and varied and the songwriting solid. It doesn’t waste time with homage to the American roots music tradition. It just goes about adding to it. 'Some Other Place' is the kind of song Greg Brown might write if he weren't annoying as shit." - Jim Henley
"Good, thoughtful, playful American music... it rocks.

"Whisperado plays straight-up rootsy rock that sounds straight outta Memphis." - Time Out New York
