Bio / Background
Karen Weinberg (Faker performer, author & co-composer) -While having a traditional theatre background and training (BA from Indiana University in acting, 10 years acting experience in Chicago), Karen has spent more recent years writing/performing with various improv and sketch comedy troupes across the country (the Neo-Futurists, GayCo, The Cupid Players). Now a New Yorker, this Chicago native is a writer and contributor on the WBEZ Chicago Public Radio show 848, a graduate of the Second City Improv Conservatory, and has studied in the Second City writing program. A play she co-wrote with the Neo-Futurists, 43 Plays for 43 Presidents, has been published and performed across the country. Faker, her first venture into solo performance, was produced by the Second City Training Center in March 2004, then headlined in the Chicago Improv Fest, the Chicago Single File Solo Fest, the San Francisco Fringe and in 2005, the New York Fringe.
