Bio / Background
I Told You Forever is an album of acoustically driven power pop with intelligent lyrics and melodic hooks. It both soothes and sizzles, evokes and entertains, the kind of album that moves your brain, heart, and toes all at the same time. Listen to samples of each song to discover why Wednesday Call's debut release is exactly what you're looking for.
David Seale and Eric Erbskorn are the heart of Wednesday Call, with Seale handling lead vocals, Erbskorn backing, and both layering the songs with lush acoustic and electric guitars. Recorded with veteran musician and producer Wes McDonald, the disc features ten original tunes and includes musical contributions from McDonald, Verbena's Les Nuby, and Andy Seale as well as The Wes McDonald Plan's Drew Davis and Jake Waitzman. Influences of REM, early Beatles, The Replacements, Neil Finn, Luna, and Wilco can be heard, but the songs take on a life of their own, making the album both original and accessible.
↓ more ↓The album begins with the upbeat and wry "Used To Be", and continues with the beautiful "Away Tonight", enhanced by the vocal talents of Elizabeth Ard and Laraine Watson. The edgy "Ghosts" drives the disc forward with distorted tension, while "Nobody's Fault" brings the CD back to its melodic, power pop hooks. From there, the album includes the ballad "Canyon", the Americana-tinged "Movin' On" (with Allison Bramlett on piano), the McCartney-esque acoustic waltz "Falling", the bluesy "Love The Sting", and the heartfelt "From A Mirror(October)". The disc ends with a stripped version of "Away Tonight" that features only Seale and Ard's vocals, acoustic guitars, and Nuby's gorgeous piano.
Fleabomb.com remarks that I Told You Forever "oozes with the influence of early REM, but not to the point where the disc sounds like it was produced by Stipe; it would make an excellent acquisition to any fan of REM, Jack Johnson, or just plain good songs."
A perfect CD for the fan of AAA power pop! Order one today, and then get a discount when you order another for a friend. S/he'll be thanking you forever.
