Orchestral Classic Rock with a bit of Glam thrown in for good measure
Bio / Background
The magic of The Warm Guns starts with the songwriting of lead singer Lewis Carlino, (aka Rex Monday), who with the band’s second album "Electric Mobile Movies" ventures into thought provoking territories rarely explored in today’s music.
The album, which is reminiscent sonically, in context and content of the story-telling songs of mid-to-late period Beatles, XTC and David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust, Hunky Dory) is imaginative and compelling, and after the first listen, the band’s easy, well-crafted hooks are set - and one finds themselves humming the tunes long after the music has ended.
The Warm Guns’ music promotes investigation of oneself and outer investigation of the world in which we live; yet they are neither preachy nor pedantic. Every song creates a consciousness toward the betterment of the human condition. They are nonsensical and psychedelic, political, spiritual, cheeky and able to convey to the listener the perennial wisdom of their predecessors.
↓ more ↓Their live show is artful, uplifting, optimistic with a sense of humor and ease.
Guitarist Jeff Evans adds powerful and memorable signature guitar hooks that imbue the music with atmospheres, intensity and colors that sets The Warm Guns far, far apart from other bands attempting the same genre. Where other guitarists hide behind mainstream techniques or effects, Evans’ simplicity in style, tones and arrangement gives the band a more powerful, classic sound, much like Gilmore did for Pink Floyd, Harrison did for the Beatles and Jimmy Page did for Led Zeppelin.
The band’s bassist, Loren Evans not only plays fretted and fretless bass, but also is a classically trained cellist, and creates entire orchestral string sections by herself using cello, viola and violins.
Drummer Robert Rachelli, trained in various techniques of percussion, closes the creative circle of the band with his tight grooves, original placement and energy.
He is a remarkably powerful and adept drummer very in tune with the music.
Probably the most unique aspect of The Warm Guns is that the lead singer is paralyzed from the waist down and lives his life, writes the music, and performs in a wheelchair. Yet, this in no way becomes some kind of gimmick or novelty – the music is so good it becomes an afterthought.
