Miss Wanda Johnson, born in 1963 in the South Carolina 'Piedmont' region, is a sparkling new addition to the deep Southern blues & roots tradition. She is a gifted singer (and natural songwriter) whose charisma comes through loud & clear on this hot debut. Her gospel and soul background shines through, but this is essentially a hard-hitting melodic blues album created with her musical partner Shrimp City Slim. Recorded in one steamy summer night in a studio in rural South Carolina, "Call Me Miss Wanda" was cut live with virtually no overdubs. Miss Wanda Johnson works the Southern circuit and has also toured France twice (to date). This CD release coincides with her November 2003 tour of Italy. You will fall in love with Miss Wanda Johnson after just one listen!
