Punky, indie garage rock - heavy guitar, blazing vocals, ruthless drum & bass. They've been called "addictive, reckless, and raw", and compared to Iggy Pop, the Dead Kennedys, and Dinosaur Jr.
Bio / Background
"A stripped-down garage rock juggernaut"
- Kim Cooper, Lost in the Grooves

"[A]n instant favorite...Shut Out the Sky is a four-song, sixteen-minute slice of snarling punk plucked straight from Iggy Pop or Husker Du's back catalog... with ['Binge's] choppy bursts of guitars and Frendz's manic posturing, the track is nothing short of dynamic, seamlessly mixing catchy refrains with aggressive energy... Rounding things out is 'Toxic Tornado,' a wailing, declarative rocker reminiscent of the Ramones. Tightly executed and brimming with frantic exuberance... If this is what they can do with a four-track EP, a full-length album is sure to be absolutely explosive."
- Melanie Love, The Daily Vault

"The songs on the Shut Out the Sky EP are straight forward, catchy, and Collin [Frendz] has a distinctive voice that again reminds me of both late-sixties garage rock bands and mid-seventies punk.
↓ more ↓Remember when the Ramones did an album of sixties cover songs?... 'Toxic Tornado' is probably my favorite song on here with a bouncy vocal melody, and Collin does a good job of snarling out the words. Not bad at all for a punk-rock garage band that has its roots in Maine and Indiana and is alive and well and kicking ass in New York, NY."
- Sebastian Gregory, Deadtide

"blends pop appeal with aggression...fans of the older style of punk-alternative bands will enjoy"
- Josh Hogan, Independent Clauses

"an old school punk vibe...dynamic...exuberant...they know how to effectively use their musical chops. Since the late 1970’s, New York has been a haven for bands honing the art of punk playing live at legendary venues like CBGB’s and Max’s Kansas City. Victor Bravo carries on this musical tradition with similar passion..."
- Phillip E. Hardy, Sound the Sirens

"New York City’s rock renaissance continues with the advent of Victor Bravo...melodic, aggressive rock/pop...Collin Frendz pushes his vocals to the edge...the wide-eyed tension is partly what gives Shut Out the Sky its charm."
- Michael Toland, High Bias
(community.livejournal.com/highbias/)
"The indie pop rock stylings of Victor Bravo are aurally addictive anecdotes that get right to the point. The reckless up tempo jaunt 'Binge' weaves through its disregard for normalcy with stabbing guitars fueled by Collin Frendz's proud, declarative, Bacchanalian reveling. Dan Collins on drums finds a tight pocket of rhythmic balance with the bass on the snappy rant 'Sarbanes-Oxley' while the juxtaposed moments of 'Dallas' recall bursts of early Imperial Teen with its confrontational rawness."
-Aaron Simms, Freelance Music Reviewer, New York, NY
Influenced by such bands as Sugar, Superchunk and L7, the Brooklyn-based trio Victor Bravo combines elements of punk, lo-fi garage, grunge, pop and hard rock into a distinctive, heavy sound. Their fast, hard-driven energy comes alive on this debut EP, 'Shut Out the Sky'. Frontman Collin Frendz lays his heart-stopping electric guitar work and gut-twisting, but cunningly catchy vocals over Dan Collins' thunderous, back-breaking beats. Scott Mason, who mixed and co-produced the record with the band, adds a nasty groove with his guest bass work. A sure-fire bet for fans of heavy, alternative rock.
