Bio / Background
Relaxed and comfortable, Veronica Leigh takes time to speak with us about her new recording.
Just returning from a shoot in New York City, Leigh takes a moment to speak with us about her new three-song CD. Veronica is promoting her first master recording, "I'm A Wild One", recorded in Nashville. The disc is produced by George McClure, whose credits include Lucy Mongrel (Grammy nominations for "Best New Artist" and "Best Alternative Album") and the Band of Writers Series. Leigh is a BMI writer and coauthor of the title track on her new CD.
The CD includes "I'm A Wild One" (Leigh - McClure); "High Life" (Wilhelm - Bryant - Middleman); "How Much I Missed You Today" (Bonnie Warren). Two cuts include Veronica's style of pop country with a "beats" undercurrent. Leigh is a graduate of University of Arizona and Berklee School of Music.
Demonstrating talent at an early age, Leigh learned violin, piano, voice, and dance in her elementary and middle school years.
↓ more ↓She moved on to community theatre in Pacific Grove, California; voiceovers and background vocals for local record companies and ad agencies; and descant singing on the Sandals Christmas album.
Leigh considers performing and singing her focal point, and says "Being passionate about something makes me want to write a song, whether it is very happy, angry, sad or in love. Good songs come from strong feelings" says Leigh.
