A new 2003 ep from the Nordeast Minneapolis Hip Hop crew.
Bio / Background
Unknown Prophets is a Twin Cities based hip hop group consisting of Big Jess (MC/Producer), MaD SoN (MC), and Willy Lose (DJ). Their classic debut album, "World Premier" (2000), introduced them to the underground hip hop scene. World Premier featured an array of hard hitting, classical influenced tracks along with appearances by local greats Slug, DJ Abilities and Brother Ali.
By 2002 Unknown Prophets had established themselves as one of the top hip hop artists from the Twin Cities. They had been featured in the May 2001 issue of Interview Magazine, received rave reviews from numerous critics and had been increasing their fan base with each step. In February of 2002 they released their highly anticipated sophomore LP, "Now You Know." The release party resulted in two sold out shows at the 7th Street Entry/ First Avenue in downtown Minneapolis. Now You Know showcased a more soulful side of Big Jess' production skills along with a definite maturity in lyrics.
↓ more ↓NYK also featured three of underground hip hop's most respected wordsmiths, Eyedea and Musab of RSE and manCHILD of Mars ILL. NYK was considered one of the most versatile releases of 2002 and the joint "Sorry" was said to be one of underground hip hops most sincere and mature songs ever recorded.
