Bio / Background
thousand yard stare
The bio of a band is always a tricky thing to write. When writing, one does not want to come across as cliché. For example: "Rising like a Phoenix from the ashes of Modern Rock…" is not the kind of thing the members of Thousand Yard Stare want their fans to read about them. Instead, the band would rather worry about the music and the performance.
The band formed in 2003 when Nick Romes(vocals, guitar), Will Johnston (drums, vocals), Chris Jensen (guitar) and Tom Livingston (bass, vocals) came together to construct to the very best music that they could. With that goal, the four men have worked feverishly on songwriting and performing in order to perfect their skills. The results have been incredibly positive.
Thousand Yard Stare recorded and released its self titled EP July of 2004. It was quickly welcomed within the Arizona music community by fans and critics alike. Get Out Magazine referred to the 5 song EP as "beautifully done".
↓ more ↓It even earned them a nomination at the Arizona Infusion of Music Awards in 2005 for best male/group artist.
In April of 2006 the band proudly announced the arrival of its first full length album, "Stars and Roadmaps". Recorded and co-produced by highly revered producer Cory Spotts at Blue Light Audio/Media. Thousand Yard Stare was essentially locked in a studio for a month which allowed the them to stretch its own boundaries and test its level of creativity. The end product is a powerful collection of 11 songs that has already opened new doors for them. Recently the band played live on Phoenix’s News Channel 3. It is a show which has an average audience of over 1 million viewers. In addition TYS was invited to do an on air interview and performance for the alternative radio station The Edge 103.9 which has also been regularly playing the song "Epiphany". The band is excited about it's future and is confident these new experiences along with a new album will get them in front new and bigger audiences.
