Strongly influenced by Peter Gabriel and musician/producer Brian Eno, this new CD draws modern rhythms and ethereal sounds into a mix with exotic and rare world instruments resulting in a compelling World Music/Pop/Rock concoction.
Bio / Background
Max Tyrell's new CD "Life After Life" blends electric guitars, extremely modern synth sounds and moving grooves with exotic World Music sounds such as the Duduk, a small reeded instrument with a distinctly
Arabic sound; Middle Eastern fiddles; Irish Uilleann bagpipes; the Sarangi, a classical Indian bowed instrument; a Chinese fiddle called the Erhu; Chinese gongs and much more.
This new CD is filled with intriguing songs that touch upon the very mysteries of existence, exploring the depths of what lies within. Each of the songs are individual experiences that blend together into a musical universe of unusual and familiar sounds, textures and melodies.
Recorded and produced in a small mountain retreat in Southern California, the CD evokes the peaceful yet passionate feel of the studio's surroundings.

Max Tyrell is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist that has worked with the likes of Robin Williamson, formerly of The Incredible String Band, formed the avant-garde music group Zru Vogue which gained enthusiastic reviews from the music press (London's New Musical Express, Sup-Pop Magazine, etc.) and earned high praise from future musician/producer Arto Lindsay who was to go on and work with David Byrne, among many others.
With a musical upbringing in the surroundings of members of the Grateful Dead, New Riders of the Purple Sage via his brother who played Steel Lap Guitar with the aforementioned, and his sister, an accomplished ragtime pianist and opera singer, Max developed an unusual and eclectic style of his own. Forming his first band at eight years of age, he then in his teens played in a San Francisco area performance-art/rock band that reveled in the absurd and which dazed and amazed audiences with their dramatic and unusual style. What followed was the previously mentioned Zru Vogue and an enigmatically catchy record that was featured throughout college radio in the
states and embraced by listeners all over the world.. Along with Zelda Blue, another former member of Zru Vogue, Max formed the band Bone Jar, which recorded the CD " Flowers From A Freaky World" featuring Robin Williamson on Northumbrian bagpipes, long-neck Cittern and vocals. The CD received glowing reviews, appeared on college radio stations throughout the US and found a home with eclectic music-loving audiences the world over. It was after this CD release that the duo delved into the world of film soundtracks and provided the backdrop to many independently released and award winning films as well as providing original music for major film studios.
Max has since released several recordings on his own and "Life After Life" is the latest of his solo CD projects. Also, of interest is that Max Tyrell is an accomplished photographer and visual artist. All of the photographs as well as the cover design and photo-manipulations for this latest release have been created by Max Tyrell himself.
