Bio / Background
Standing firmly on the core values of classic-era hip-hop, emcee/producer Truce II Headrush nonetheless takes the genre in a unique and personal direction. Drawing influences from styles ranging from classic rock, punk, and electronic to the contemporary acoustic indie scene, Truce's organic, genre-bending style is comparable to artists such as OutKast, K-os and the Beastie Boys; and forerunners such as Arrested Development and A Tribe Called Quest. Music for the now era, rooted in classic values.
Born and raised in the hills of Western Maryland, and a veteran of pioneering Western Maryland music collective Midnight: 30, Truce II Headrush was weaned on music whose message was positive and formula simple: beats, rhymes, and life. As the 90’s submitted to gangsta, jiggy, and, eventually, bling, Truce abandoned the mainstream for the underground, expanding his musical foundation and forging his own enigmatic production style.
