Eclectic, Guitar/Piano/Percussion driven alternative styles, Christian themed songs, with quirky lyrics. (Think "Hoyt Axton meets Pink Floyd.")
Bio / Background
Rick Trice is an independent singer/ songwriter/ actor/ preacher who lives in the cool mountain foothills of Northern New Mexico with his beautiful and talented wife, Linda, who joins him on keyboards, both on stage and in the studio. Trice has been writing and performing his unique blend of (what would now be called) alternative / soft / country rock for over 35 years now, on a regional basis. His instrument of choice is the drum set, as evidenced by the fact that he tends to also play guitar, bass, and piano as if they were percussion instruments.
Trice’s songwriting and styles are influenced by Lennon/McCartney, Pete Townsend, Hoyt Axton, Justin Hayward, Phil Keaggy, Barry Gibb, James Taylor, Mark Knopfler, Michael Nesmith, Paul Simon, Rich Mullins, and David Gilmour, to name but a few.
↓ more ↓He enjoys and appreciates all styles of music, and would someday like to (but can’t…yet) write and perform like Steely Dan, Rush, Genesis, Jethro Tull, Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, and Eddie Van Halen!
Rick divides his time amongst songwriting & recording, performing, acting & directing (stage plays), and teaching the Bible at a local church. In his "spare time," he also works in the financial world to help supplement these passions and pay the bills!
He thanks God for all His blessings, and firmly believes that all music is merely a reflection of God’s creative power within us all; that we were all ultimately created for His pleasure; that we attain that relationship through a profession of faith in the God/Man, Christ Jesus; and that the modern church has often done much to alienate men from their Creator and Redeemer, which is a theme often reflected in Trice's songs.
He never votes a straight ticket, but believes in the right to bear arms. He feels that society has the responsibility to care for the poor and destitute, but that it starts with "me." He also believes a person should find those gifts within them that are special and then strive to excel in them.
But most of all, Rick believes that you should buy this CD so you can hear what “Hoyt Axton meets Pink Floyd” sounds like.
