Bio / Background
"Tracie has one of those rare and distinctive voices that makes people stop what they are doing and pay attention." --Abby Goldstein, KERA
Tracie, a Texas native, has found a receptive audience with her powerful, rich vocals. This songwriter's soulful and passionate voice will capture your senses immediately. There is no doubt that her acoustic style is her own blend of life experience and emotion. You can read Tracie's life in between the lines, her lyrics intimate and empowering.
Tracie has launched her CD, That's Mine, on her own label, 225 Miles Music. Self-produced, this debut opus features ten original songs. The all acoustic album, recorded “live and unplugged” in the studio features simply voice and guitar. But this is just a taste of her talent...you have to experience her passionate and soulful performance.
↓ more ↓Born in North Texas, with deep family roots in the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles, Tracie began life with a passion for music, taking up piano and violin as a young girl - later studying music composition at the University of North Texas. With her classical background, she secretly yearned to play guitar and write songs. Eventually she immersed herself into the folk scene, taking instruction from other songwriters such as Jack Hardy of New York City, Bill Nash and Bob Ackerman of Dallas.
DallasMusic.com awarded Tracie "Female Vocalist of the Year" in February of 2002.
Two of Tracie’s songs are showcased in Air an independent half-length film. Free accompanies the movie's opening sequence and Independence Day bookends the film during the credits. Kevin Nash, filmmaker, says, “The first time I heard Tracie perform, I knew that her music and my film belonged together. It was as if the film had been waiting for Tracie’s sound”. Air has been featured at several film festivals and independent outlets. www.airthemovie.com
The Ackermans, husband-wife duo, recorded Independence Day on their Code of the West CD. It’s featured twice...one version with a French chorus for their European following.
Tracie has been performed at notable venues such as Poor David’s Pub in Dallas, MacHenry’s in Fort Worth, and The Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah, OK.
Tracie has performed with Teri Hendrix w/Lloyd Maines, Adam Carroll, Guy Forsyth, Ruthie Foster, Tom Prasado-Rao, Carrie Cooper...just to name a few.
