What does this album sound like? From the opening thumps of a muscular bass drum leading into a soul scorching scream to the final notes of a tortured Les Paul Custom through an over-cranked Marshall amplifier one word resonates through-out…passion!!!
The Torok ‘sound’ has elements of 70s giants "Led Zeppelin" and "Deep Purple", a bit of 80s rock heroes "Van Halen" and "Badlands" with just a taste of modern production tonalities thrown in for good measure. There is no flavor of the moment follow the leader formula here. The basic recipe is bluesy, funky, hard rock grooves with finger twisting guitar riffs topped off by soaring chest-pounding vocals.
This is the 3rd release from the Erickson-Torok team: "Silence" 1996, "Binge & Purge" 2001 and now "Addiction of Fools" 2007. As did Prince and Husker Du, the band Torok makes their home in the Twin cities.
