A combination of Red Hot, in your face, and down your throat Rock 'n' Roll. A Mix of Blues, Jump Swing, Rockabilly and blistering lead guitar.
Editorial review
Modern day retro rockabilly from this Southern California artist. Ramirez writes all his own material, owing as much to '80s-sounding retro rockabilly and big hair rock than the original '50s variety. Although it's commendable that Ramirez chooses to compose his own numbers, the songwriting is weak and cliched, the net result being an album full of sub-standard tunes that sound like a back-end combination of the Stray Cats and Queen. Unless you're a fan of either group, pass this one by. ~ Cub Koda, All Music Guide
Bio / Background
After years of playing guitar in various bands ranging from Metal, to Pop, to Rap, to Alternative, TJR AKA: Timothy John Ramirez came to the realization that the only way to get rock to the next level would be to go back to it's roots, and then move forward.
To do this, TJR immersed himself in both playing and listening to the music of the pioneers of Rock (Bill Haley, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran), and Blues (BB King, Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker), before writing the songs for his debut album: Rip Roarin' Rock 'n' Roll
The result is a mix of cooler than thou vocals reminiscent of Elvis and Chris Issac, Bryan Setzer style guitar rhythms, Throw in a touch Eddie Van Halen / Johnny Lang Fretwork and toss in some Eric Clapton and Cream style Rockin' Blues and you have a big cup of Rock'n' Roll Revival. But, don't take our word for it.
