A straight ahead jazz quartet CD with mischievous male vocals, tenor saxophone and a snappy trio playing standards and a few other things as well.
Bio / Background
I started recording this CD in February of 1998. It was completed around 3 1/2- 4 years later. Because of this delay, I'M DONATING 10% OF THE SELLING PRICE TO THE STANFORD UNIVERSITY NEUROSURGERY DEPARTMENT. You see, on October 4, 1998 I suffered a ruptured cerebral aneurysm. At the time, I was burning demo cd's with Melody Anne of a duet we recorded to solicit for local gigs. I had had a headache for about a week, but didn't pay much attention to it. Then on the 4th, I started convulsing and hemoraging. Melody Anne kept her cool and called 911. I was taken to Summit Hospital in Oakland, Ca. But the neurosurgeon there said if he has another one, he's not going to make it. He helicoptered me to Stanford Hospital for surgery. It took a couple days to get me stablized enough to insert a tube into the aorta in my groin and "coiled" the aneurysm. No cutting anywhere. I started recovering, and felt great. I would routinely go back to Stanford for angiograms to make sure the coil was holding.
↓ more ↓Then in January of 2000, I found out the coil wasn't going to hold, so I went back in March of 2000 to actually have my skull opened up and a "clip" replaced the coil. I was devastated. This time was different. I did recover, but I still have residual effects. I'm a very fortunate man. I could have ended up much worse, with death being the choice over total disablitily. I'm continuning this journey with the help of Melody Anne and my parents. I am playing and writing music closer to my heart. This CD is filled with some 'weighty' sidemen. With the legendary Vince Wallace on Tenor, Chris Amberger on bass and Jack Dorsey on drums. And don't forget this is a tax deductable donation.
