Catchy acoustic pop with jazz/blues influences.
Bio / Background
"You're way better than the usual white guy with an acoustic guitar!" is a compliment Tim Blane hears often. Armed with pop hooks, a soulful voice, and a songwriting style seeped in jazz, rock, and blues, Blane has a sound both refreshing and memorable. From bouncy sing-a-longs to intense piano ballads to country-tinged rockers, Tim's songs leave the listener smiling and singing along.
Blane's musical background of jazz piano, classical violin, and rock guitar led him to study songwriting and performance at the famous Berklee College of Music. Since then, Tim has been entertaining audiences all over eastern America with his accessible stage presence, dry wit, and soulful voice… From the Middlesex Anvil: "His mellow voice and songs were just altogether...melting, " exclaimed a junior girl. "We LOVED Tim Blane!" screamed two sophomore girls, jumping up and down.
In 2005 Blane released "In the Meantime," his debut album.
↓ more ↓Produced by Chris Keup and Stewart Myers (Jason Mraz, OAR, Rachel Yamagata, Graham Colton, Mandy Moore) the album charted at #2 at the Aware Store, and has since sold more than 3000 copies independently. Insite Magazine said of the CD, "A close inspection of Blane's "In the Meantime" disc unearths a deeply talented musician and honest lyricist." Northeast Performer Magazine wrote, "Thankfully, Blane avoids the trap of trying so hard to create songs fit for the radio that the choruses become cliché-ridden. In The Meantime is a strong release that is chock full of tunes bound to stay in your head long after the music ends."
Since the release of "In the Meantime," Blane has been touring colleges and clubs, and has 3 times been selected as a featured showcase performer at NACA regional conferences. In February 2007, he was a featured showcase at the NACA National Conference in Nashville. Tim was a finalist in the Starbucks/NEMO songwriting competition, as well as a featured performer in the 2006 NEMO conference in Boston. He was also hired in 2006 by super-producer Scott Storch to write custom ringtones for Pepsi.
Blane's latest album, "Clockwork" is an expansion of his catchy and honest songwriting. Recorded once again with Keup and Myers, Clockwork exhibits Blane's ability to write in different styles while still maintaining a fluid, consistent sound. From the Stevie Wonder/Lyle Lovett infused title track to the Coldplay-esque "Undone" to the Maroon 5 influenced "Me Being Me," the album is sure to expand Blane's fan base and help gain him exposure to larger audiences across the country.
As one critic put it "…this is the kind of music that makes you want to roll down the windows, take down the top, and turn up the CD player!"

Brilliant feelgood album, very well produced. Tim Blane is a very strong vocalist with perfect tone and tune. The songs are varied, too. I'm sure this artist will go far. Well done!
