Bio / Background
'Bring Me Sun For Breakfast' is the second album since Thumpermonkey went live. An ambitious, deliberately over-reaching record; ‘Breakfast’ juggles heavy math games with barren post-metal rumbles. 'Breakfast' filters Aztec spiritualism through Tex Avery cartoons and mashed-out Bowie slumber parties. It' s a heady trip through earnest prog, mathletics, shamblecore, and this year's patented oxymoronic genre – the ‘positive doom’ of ‘Slug City’.
All three members of Thumpermonkey Lives! bring something different from their previous bands. Working men’s rugby-hardcore. White middle-class stoner rap. B-Movie surf-goth. Thumpermonkey Lives! is best described as sounding like none of these. Thumpermonkey Lives! is like the chinese-whispered exegesis of Philip K. Dick, delivered by Sparks over riffs rejected by Discord for not being hip enough. Thumpermonkey Lives! is the antidote to music designed for people who hate music.
