The Thicket Profile
The Thicket plays in a fresh, unusual style highlighted by a mixture of strong melody, sweet harmony, and harsh mood shifts. The music is lush and romantic with a sense of progressive complexity. Creating this debut project, The Thicket exclusively used synthesizers and the theremin, and therefore there is a strong modern electronic flavour. Every track takes the listener on a winding path through unexpected stylistic changes. Ambient and aggressive, sad and hope-filled, this project defies categorization.
The Thicket is a Canadian studio-based duo comprised of Andrei Poukhovski and Ivan Poukhovski-Sheremetyev. This is a father-and-son collaboration ... and that implies fairly different musical visions. But at the end of the day this becomes a vital component of The Thicket's originality. Using their Russian heritage to their advantage, the band creates a strongly European-influenced sound.
