Telly was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY where the combination of hip-hop, R&B / soul, pop, house, raggae, and Broadway showtunes has influenced him to be a unique type of singer / songwriter / producer.
Already a familiar name on Broadway, Telly and writing partner Randy Witherspoon at MOPPTOPP RECORDS are getting ready to take over the music industry with their unique pop / R&B sound. He is currently working on material for a full-length album.
As a Chinese-American artist, Telly believes that, "Music is color-blind. Good music is good music. Period. It doesn't matter WHO is singing it. If the audience is feelin' it, then who cares if I'm black, white, or purple."
"Everything influences my music - listening to great singers like Luther, Aretha, Mariah, Chaka, Whitney, and of course, the great Stevie Wonder; great producers like Rodney Jerkins, NERD, Wyclef; great songwriters like Babyface, Melissa Manchester, Sondheim, Alicia Keys, and india.
↓ more ↓arie; great performers like Justin, Mary J., and Usher - the list is endless. I learn from everyone of all different genres, and I feel like I am a blend of all of these influences... like a big 'yummy' smoothie with all these different ingredients in it being mixed in a blender!"
